That’s R-A-V-E-N, of “i got the whole world here daddy, between my fingers and my thumb” fame. And can anything beat Proudest Monkey—> Satellite? It’s going to be a fucking good time @ Randall’s Island in August.

Lots of stuff going on.

I never got to order the shift knob or pedals. Am going to kick myself if I don’t add something shiny inside the car soon.

On a happier note, my good friend Ms. Shahani graduated from Kean University yesterday with an Uber Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology. We spent the evening listening to space-woman Eileen Collins talking about the five H’s in her life… happiness, health, humility, hard-work, and horniness… or something like that. After the initial awe of being in the same room as a woman who has traversed the earth’s atmosphere into space on a few occassions, Vishal summed up the reaction to her speech effectively by saying “let’s send her back into space.”

Needless to say, the rest of the time was well-spent at Edison Diner with some fine food served at the hands of a clueless waiter (excuse me ma’am, do you want water with lemon, or lemon with water?) and with some good company.

Switching gears once again (figuratively)… I have yet to post a single caption from my Egypt/Amsterdam trip. I caught myself looking at the pictures and realizing I should do it soon, at the risk of losing the memory of why I took each particular snap. It doesn’t help that I’m the only one in our group who has his pics up at all. I expect Krause to be done by sometime in 2010 (freaking guy). I’m also considering venturing out to Australia/New Zealand or to South America for the next round of world exploration. Either option will have to wait at least until early next year (insert anger emoticon here).

I’ve heard the new PJ album a few times, as well as the 10,000 days album by Tool, and I have to say that in the midst of all the pure BULLSHIT out there in the music scene, these two bands are still tugging along and creating respectable music. Speaking of music, I’m currently addicted to Pandora during the day. The concept behind it is based on the research of a bunch of fine folks in the music industry. They banged heads together to examine some of the characteristics of music, such as tonal variations, rhythm, vamping, and sonority, to suggest music that you may have never heard, but would appreciate. So, to give it a go, you basically type in anything from The Who to David Gray, and the jukebox will select bands and songs similar to the vibes you like. Great way to catch new tunes. Oh, it’s free too.

I have started playing power chords (yes, finally). In the spirit of the grunge era, it makes me want to buy an electric, but i’ll stick with my Brownsville for now. At the current moment, it feels so much easier for me to generate my own vibes rather than attempting to play something as simple as Last Kiss (Pearl Jam rendition). Pretty lame excuse for not wanting to switch quickly from Am to F.
:sigh:

The last thing I will say for now is that Typo is getting somewhat annoying for a couple of reasons:

  1. Every once in a while, i’ll hit the site and get my friendly ERROR! page. Not cool.

  2. I need to figure out how that Royal theme works. So far it’s been nothing but a pain- probably due in party to my ability to figure it out.

To make a point about #2 here though- sometimes open source users just suck. You can go out of your way to explain a problem thoroughly, but they’ll bash you anyways, instead of actually providing a solution (insert anger emoticon here too).

Need to write some fun perl scripts now.

I decided to buy Cooper Zeon Sport A/S tires for the Jetta. I tested them out over the weekend, and so far they ride very well. Traction is far superior to the Piece of Shit OEM Goodyear tires that VW installed on my car.

The overall price after installation was about $390… If these last more than 40k miles, i’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Next up, gotta get foot pedals and a new shift knob.

Pics coming soon….
